“Officials in Grand Junction, Colo., are reporting a huge spike in pregnancy rates every year after the annual Country Jam festival. New pregnancies typically quadruple in the weeks following the festival, Wanda Scott of the Mesa County Nurse-Family Partnership told the county commission last week, and ‘we could literally use eight more nurses.’ Commissioner Janet Rowland replied, ‘I don’t know what else we could do at this point short of putting birth control in the water at Country Jam.’”

Today my mom and I visited drug court in South San Francisco. When we got there the presiding judge showed us his chambers and then the bailiff said we could sit wherever we wanted, and suggested the comfy chairs of the jury box. My mom and I opted for the less conspicuous seats in the back, and good thing, because before long a chain of seven orange clad convicts were escorted to those very same ergonomic seats. Including the three orange and red suited men indicating their status as criminally insane sex offenders.

a new play by KARINNE KEITHLEY
directed by MARIA GOYANES
In a landscape of lost love and modern loneliness, a company of strangers map a tentative journey towards just letting go. Keithley’s lively, rhythmic text weaves a tapestry of beautiful impossibilities inhabited by a singing chorus of online shopping carts and a place called Kentucky-Montana, which exists but if you end up there you are in trouble.
